Ashtanga Yoga
Ashtanga yoga is a dynamic and athletic form of yoga that comprises six series of postures performed in a fixed sequence. The individual postures (asanas) are linked through vinyasa (flowing movements) synchronized with a steady focus on the breath.
Ashtanga yoga explained…
Ashtanga vinyasa yoga commonly referred to as “ashtanga yoga” nowadays, is a practice popularized by K. Pattabhi Jois in the early 20th century. It centers on a vigorous physical routine including a series of yoga postures linked together with flowing movements and breath to form a continuous sequence. This style of yoga demands an intense level of physical strength, flexibility, and endurance, resulting in a rigorous and challenging workout. Traditionally, ashtanga vinyasa yoga students would memorize the sequence and practice it together without instructions from a teacher. Teacher-led classes were introduced in later years.
In our ashtanga classes, we strive to maintain the authenticity of the Mysore style, under the guidance of highly qualified teachers who adhere to the principles established by the Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute, founded by K. Pattabhi Jois in 1948.
We offer 3 types of ashtanga classes:
Led Ashtanga Class
Modified Ashtanga Class
Mysore Class
In this class, students practice the ashtanga sequence together in the same room, at their own pace, with one-on-one guidance from the teacher as needed. Though we offer a couple of spots for beginners, we strongly recommend participating in at least two or three Led Ashtanga classes before you join a mysore class.
