About Tanvi
Zodiac: Scorpio
What does yoga mean to you?
Yoga has been a self-discovering mode for me. It made me realise that there is so much beyond that perfect pose (asana); while asana is just a part of it. As Swami Satchidananda has quoted “Calming the mind is yoga. Not just standing on the head.”
How would you describe your teaching style?
While designing the class I focus on chanting, asanas and pranayam (breathe work). Based on students’ capabilities I like to give individual attention in their journey to achieve a pose. I also like to add sound to my sessions with sound bowls which helps calm the mind.
What is your favorite yoga pose?
Sirsasana (Headstand) – it is my go to pose as it makes me feel that I am strong, I am balanced, I am fearless and most importantly it helps me calm the chaos when the world around me is upside down.
Who inspires you?
For Yoga – Mauli Bavisker – my teacher; I can say that I found myself through yoga because of her. But in general, I have been inspired by many people at different stages of my life. Currently, all those mothers who balance their work, home and young children at the same time are my true inspirations.
What is your superpower?
Adaptability and persistence.
What recharges you?
‘Me time’ in a cafe having coffee and sketching some art.
What makes you happy?
My family and friends .
