Pranayama (breathing techniques) & Meditation, are tools of Hatha yoga, aiming to deepen self-awareness and cultivate inner peace and balance.
The Sanskrit word “pranayama”, can be translated to “ extension of breath” or “extension of life-force”. While nowadays it is primarily used to refer to breathing techniques, yogis believe that the control of breath enables one to expand and harness the life-energy within.
Meditation, another ancient practice, aims to cultivate a state of tranquility and contentment. Its fundamental goal is to quiet the mind, as, according to yogic philosophy, the root cause of suffering lies in the multitude of thoughts that arise within the mind. By transcending thoughts and attaining a state of mental stillness, one can experience tranquility and calmness beyond the ordinary fluctuations of the mind.
These two age-old practices, pranayama and meditation, work in harmony to create a profound sense of well-being by connecting the body, mind, and spirit.

In our Pranayama and Meditation Class, we offer instructions on diaphragmatic breathing along with various breathing techniques to tap into the transformative power of the breath. It is followed by a silent meditation session of 20-30 minutes.
All levels are welcome.
