About Mihiro
Zodiac: Virgo
What does yoga mean to you?
For me, yoga is a path and a practice of returning to our true essence: love. Each day on the mat offers a dedicated moment to reconnect with the stillness within, allowing me to meet and engage with the world from that place- a place that naturally brings forward love and compassion.
How would you describe your teaching style?
In my Sivananda style hatha yoga classes, I teach in a way that stays as close to the tradition as possible. I focus less on the physical form and more on the meditative quality of the practice, guiding students to bring their awareness into the present moment. My teacher once told me that the correct posture isn’t something you achieve by doing, but a natural outcome of being fully present with yourself.
What is your favorite yoga pose?
Sirsasana (headstand) – personally, I love the sense of balance and stillness that arises in this posture. I also enjoy teaching it, as it’s a powerful asana for noticing fear and cultivating patience. Working with sirsasana often reveals the obstacles in our mind.
Who inspires you?
Govinda Kai – my teacher and my partner. He inspires me to teach from my own experience and to truly live what I share.
I also strive to be my own inspiration every day.
What is your superpower?
The courage to face fear and a deep attentiveness to everything around me.
What recharges you?
Yoga practice, cooking, and spending a day without any plans — simply being present with how I feel.
What makes you happy?
Knowing that, more and more, I’m able to make choices in life that are aligned with my heart.
